Dr. Smith attended MSU for both her undergraduate and veterinary degrees, graduating from the College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2007. After graduation, she worked for one year at a small animal practice in Newaygo and for 3 years at a veterinary hospital in Rockford before joining the team at GLHA in June of 2011.

Dr. Smith is a member of both the American and Michigan Veterinary Medical Associations, as well as the Veterinary Information Network – an on-line community that allows her access to specialists in all fields of veterinary medicine for case consults. Dr. Smith's areas of interest include preventive medicine, feline medicine, and pain management.

Dr. Smith currently lives in Rockford. Her menagerie at home consists of a german shepherd (Beau), a dachshund/corgi mix (Pudgie), 3 kitties (Kitri, Davidson, and Rhiannon), and 1 husband (Scott). In her spare time Dr. Smith enjoys reading, gardening, and playing the piano.
